He is manipulated by Xehanort, who seeks to use Terra's darkness for his own purposes. Terra becomes separated from his friends and struggles against the influence of Vanitas, a being created from Ventus's extracted darkness. Despite his efforts to resist, Terra's body is eventually taken over by Xehanort, leading to his physical form being used as a vessel. In his final moments as himself, Terra reconciles with Aqua on the Keyblade Graveyard, entrusting Ventus's heart to Sora before passing into light.
