The Keyblade War erupted when Xehanort, driven by an obsession to understand the nature of both forces, sought to merge them into a new world dominated by his will. He gathered other Keyblade wielders who shared his desire for power or knowledge, forming a faction that challenged the established order. The war ended not with total victory but with a desperate stalemate. The remaining Masters of Light managed to seal away the Heartless and push the darkness into a separate realm, effectively splitting the universe. This act of separation created the modern structure of worlds floating in space. However, the cost was immense; those who lost their hearts during the conflict became Nobodies, while others were trapped in darkness or erased from existence entirely.
